I made a 20 piece portfolio, had a pretty good SAT score (it does actually matter although I've forgotten what my score was), had a good high school GPA, did extracurricular activites like running my own Anime Club and being a Girl Scout. My portfolio was sent in on slides and Pratt seemed to like it. They have a pretty good acceptance rate as long as they can see you put effort in to your work.

Grades don't seem to matter much. Have a sirius and well presented portfolio with peices that relate to your major.
SAT: 1250 Male

I was a transfer student, so it was pretty easy. No one in my dept. even looked at my portfolio - honestly if you're coming right out of high school don't sweat it. Not everyone here is a DaVinci, or even a Pollock for that matter : ) Just have decent grades, good SAT's and a little $$$$ doesn't hurt either. That's the only explanation for why some of these people are even here.
SAT: 1100 Female

i had a portfolio of about 8-10 pieces which touched on the main media like pencil, ink, pastel, acrylic and watercolor. they were mostly still lifes (still lives?) and a maybe one or two imagination pieces. all of it was representational. a mix of black and white and color. (not that it matters, but my high school's art room was tucked in the corner of the basement, you had to walk through another classroom to get to it, and it's supplies were limited). i also had good grades, which i was rewarded for, and so made up for (what i thought to be) a not very competitive portfolio.
SAT: 1310 Male
A portfolio of your highschool sketch book will do,Feb 17 2003Art & Design Department
A portfolio of your highschool sketch book will do, but they do give merit scholarship awards for good grades and a skilled pen, pencil, and/or brush.
SAT: 1190 Male
